To know how much to reimburse you for your home charging sessions, we need to know two things:
1. How much electricity (in kWh) you've used to charge your business vehicle
2. How much each unit of electricity (in kWh) costs
Requirement 1: How much electricity you've used to charge your business vehicle
There are three ways we can do this:
1. Your home charger has an automated connection with us. In this case, your home charger will automatically share how much electricity you use, and when you use it, to charge your vehicle. This option is very accurate, and the most recommended.
2. Your vehicle has an automated connection with us. In this case, your vehicle will automatically share how much electricity you use, and when you use it, to charge your vehicle. Depending on the vehicle, this option is usually less accurate. Therefore, while automated vehicle connections can be used alongside an automated home charger connection for fraud-prevention, for most vehicles we do not recommend using them as the only source of how much electricity you use.
3. You manually upload your home charger data to us. If your home charger does not support an automated connection, and your vehicle either does not support an automated connection, or only has a low-quality automated connection, you'll have to manually upload your home charger charging session data to us. Ideally, you'd do this after each charging session, but you can also do it monthly - by the 27th of each month.
Requirement 2: How much each unit of electricity costs
There are two ways we can do this:
1. You automatically connect your tariff to us. We are integrated will all UK energy suppliers, meaning that we support automated connections with the vast majority of tariffs. In this case, your home electricity cost rates are automatically shared with us. Any changes in your tariff are also automatically updated (however, if you change your energy supplier, you'll have to update that yourself in the app). Consequently, we strongly recommend this option.
2. You manually enter your electricity tariff's unit rate(s) in the app / website. If you are uncomfortable with connecting your tariff automatically, you can manually submit your tariff's unit price rate(s). You will be responsible for keeping them up-to-date and correct. This is more work for you, so we do not recommend choosing this option.
