Public Charging
If a fleet administrator enables public charging in Rightcharge, the driver is issued a physical Rightcharge charge card. This card can be used to start charging at supported public charge points across the UK.
How charging costs are handled depends on the payment mode set by the fleet administrator.
Direct Payment
When Direct Payment is enabled, all public charging sessions completed using the Rightcharge charge card are paid for by the employer. The driver does not pay upfront, and their personal bank account is not involved in these transactions.
Expenses
When Expenses is enabled, the driver pays for public charging sessions using their own connected credit card. The employer then reimburses the driver for these costs, typically on a monthly basis.
No Access
If a driver is set to No Access, they will not be able to use Rightcharge public charging services or the public charge card. The driver may request that the fleet administrator updates this setting if access is required.
Home Charging
If a fleet administrator enables home charging for a driver, the driver is required to share home charging data and energy tariff information with Rightcharge. This data may be shared automatically or manually, depending on what integrations are supported.
Home charging costs are handled differently depending on the payment mode selected.
Direct Payment
When Direct Payment is enabled, the electricity used to charge the driver’s business vehicle during a calendar month is calculated by Rightcharge. The employer pays this amount directly to the driver’s home energy supplier account by the 16th of the following month. This process is referred to as home charging reimbursement.
Expenses
When Expenses is enabled, the driver initially covers the cost of charging their vehicle through their regular home electricity bill. Rightcharge generates a detailed charging report showing business-related charging activity. The employer then reimburses the driver for these costs, typically on a monthly basis.
No Access
If a driver is set to No Access, they will not be able to use Rightcharge home charging services. The driver may request that the fleet administrator updates this setting.
Additional notes
Public Charging and Home Charging are separate features. Drivers may have access to one or both, depending on how their fleet is configured. All access settings and payment modes are controlled by the fleet administrator.
